Project Details

ExGlo Foundation conducted a transformational health outreach in Kayoro, a vibrant village in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region. Following a thorough needs assessment, we worked closely with District Health Director Mr. Lawal Alhassan to design a screening program addressing the community’s most pressing concerns. Within two days, our volunteers and 25 health professionals screened around 500 residents for malaria, typhoid, hypertension, respiratory infections, and skin diseases, alongside Hepatitis B screenings for children.

The intervention highlighted the tough reality in Kayoro: identifying 76 malaria and 10 typhoid cases, and managing multiple hypertension cases on site. The outreach removed substantial financial barriers to care, providing on-the-spot NHIS renewal via mobile phone for expired cards. Despite local challenges such as minimal staffing and unreliable electricity, the community responded with profound gratitude. The program's success was driven by dedicated individual donors and institutional partners, including Medicas Hospital, Hutch Pharmacy Limited, St. John's Hospital and Fertility Centre, Vidol Fashion House, The Ghana Report, and I-ZAR Group.
